I'm your same age :) Some of the best books I read last year were books by Allen French, like The Red Keep and The Lost Baron. Both are really enjoyable if you like the medieval ages like I do. This year I'm reading Jules Verne' The Mysterious Island, a really thick book packed with information but also a good story. Some of Dickens are good too, I've started him this year as well. Some other five-stars are To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy, and Louisa May Alcott's Eight Cousins (hilarious at times).

I'm not male, but I've recently enjoyed Neil Gaiman's work, The Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin, and Wicked by Gregory Maguire. James Patterson writes cool books, and I have a bunch of friends who like Stephen King. They are all good, but there are people who hate all of them and they are all well known, so you might have already read all of them. Or you can try the classics- I know that 1984 is in the curriculum for most 10th graders, but that's not the only good one. Do you like a particular genre? Because if you do, I can probably recommend something- I've read about half of the young adult section of the library...

I remember this really good book I read in like 7th grade...it's called "Searching for David's Heart" by Cherie Bennett. I think it's actually a movie now and was aired on ABC Family. It's just the best book you will ever read. And I really think that if you pass up the chance to read this then you're really missing out.

I also loved "Where the red fern grows" by Wilson Rawls. Its a book about a boy who wants 2 coon dogs, but his parents are poor. He finds an ad in the paper for two pups for 50 bucks. He works for 2 years and saves up the money. He travels out into the city to get his pups. He trains em and they become the best coon huntin dogs. In the end, the pups died( lil ann, the girl, died because she couldnt live w/o old dan) and old dan died after he had a fight with another animal. Where they were burried, a red fern grew. Its really a sad story of never giving up. I loved it a lot.

Go to Amazon.com and search:
"Lost from Atlantis Book 1" - Book 2 is going to be out in the next 6 weeks or so, Book 3 is written and in editing and will be out sometime in the next few months.
"Death by MURDER David Lindsay" - you have to search that way or it won't come up. There's lots of sex in that one.
"Super Spaghetti"
And the best part is, for now, they're all FREE. You can read them with Kindle Unlimited - if you don't have Kindle Unlimited Google how to get a free trial, and all those books are free. They can be read online, with a free Kindle phone app, or on a Kindle.

Hmmm....when I was 15 I was into Horror and the like...
One of my favourite books is Dean Koontz...Koko. It's long but a quick read and it's entertaining...not a great work of literature, but worth a read...warning...the beginning is a bit slow but it's worth it.
I also read Stephen King's short stories...Different Seasons is a good compilation...
My interests lie elsewhere now, I'm into different lit....Love the book Eureka Street by Robert Wilson and also love the book Lies of Silence by Brian Moore...Both are set in Ireland...the second one is more thrilling than the first...
American Psycho is a great read, if you're into madness and serial killer books....based in the 1980's so you might be amused to read about fads before you were born, in addition to the sickness of the protagonist.
Have fun...

Definitely any of Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. Very funny, very clever and easily accessible. Michelle Paver's Chronicle's of Ancient Darkness are also brilliant, As is Garth Nix's Shade's Children and Abhorsen series.

I am reading a book now called Chew On This, everything you didn't want to know about fast food. I thought it would be SO boring, just a bunch of facts. But it is pretty interesting. And that's big for me to be interested in a book. Reading really isn't my thing.

Perfect book for you--Thirteen Moons by Charles Frazier. It is about a young man coming of age in a startlingly cold world and making a great success and family connections. Also about the West and the relocation of the Native Americans from the Carolinas and it has lots of adventure.
