You need to go watch some of his matches in Japan and WCW. Eddie was one of the best. He and Chris Benoit had some awesome matches.
It's not fair to form an opinion about a wrestler, unless you know something about their entire wrestling career. You can't just generalize based on what you see on WWE.

Eddie Guerrero is one the BEST 2nd Generation wrestlers, ever. Like Bret Hart, Mr. Perfect and others, he had a ton of knowledge before he ever entered the ring as a young man. He & Chavo both "played" as children in the back yard ring growing up. They learned the art from Eddies' father and older brothers. Luche Libre grew on the back of the Guerreros in Mexico, among others.
Eddie left and went to Puerto Rico, Japan, ECW (the real one), and the WCW. He held a few titles along the way. His first real impact was made when he jumped from WCW to WWF, along with Benoit, Saturn, & Dean Malenko (the man of 1000 holds). They were a HUGE loss to the WCW, in that Benoit was the WCW Heavyweight Champ at the time, and Guerrero was going after the US Heavyweight belt.
Eddie had more then just technical ability. He had a charisma that brought fans to him. Even as a heal, they'd still chant his name, over and over. I was lucky to attend one of his last matches when he was doing the schtick with Rey Misterio & his son. He was the MONSTER HEAL at the time, and still people cheered him. He came out, put a ladder in the middle of the ring in Toronto, climbed to the top, and gave a 15 minute promo that most ring veterans would kill to do. He was simply one of the best, ever. He had Benoits ability, and the Rocks' mouth.
For those of us who've been following wrestling since WM1 or longer, he was a breath of fresh air. His antics of pretending to have hit with the belt will always be a classic. We miss his ability to rise above the writing, and deliver what we so desperately want today. Ability & Perfomance.
Go rent as many matches of his as you can, and get the book & Video for "Lie, Cheat & Steal" and you'll know exactly why he will be missed. He rose above it all, including his own failings.
We miss him.
God rest your soul, Eddie Guerrero.
Viva la raca!!
Long remember the warrior.

Eddie Guerrero is like one of those people who are heels but everyone likes him, like the old DX and Stone Cold. He's a legend because he was in the business for so long and a WWE Champion.
Fun Fact- I read on Wikipedia that the Smackdown episode after Eddie's death, Eddie was scripted to win the World Heavyweight Title. If only he was alive a little longer, he would die a champion!!!!
Viva la raza, Eddie.

Eddie was popular even before he died because he was a great wrestler, period. I mean, he excelled at so many different things. He was probably the second best technical wrestler behind Benoit but he could also fly or go hardcore. He was great on the mic as a face or as a heel. Maybe his early death has led to an unnatural spike in his popularity levels, but it's not like he didn't deserve it.

Eddie was a performer and he fought all of his demons so he could be a person that we all would remember. Yes I know Eddie had a unique personallity and that is whant made him a star. I t is inconsederit to be so insensitive and you should ashamed of your self to talk that way about a man that many people love and you need to stop. You can not be mean to a man the tried and excelled every week to make you and all of his fans happy. I am deeply sadden that you have no simpethy to this man who died giving his life to wrestling.
Eddie Guerrero R.I.P

Eddie Guererro was a complete package wrestler which made him a superstar. Look at how many fans he had. Eddie was a great wrestler, good mic skills and was over with the crowd. Not forgetting he had cool entrances with his lowrider. How could you have not liked the guy

Eddie is one of the best, and he deserved the WWE Championship. Also, during his days of wrestling in Japan, he was great. He was overlooked for a long time though. I was surprised that WCW let him win the U.S. Championship. I believe he earned it, but WCW has overlooked Eddie for most of his time there. R.I.P Eddie, wrestling will never be the same without him.
