I have the book "Mother of all Pregnancy Books" by Ann Douglas (this was recommended by my OBGYN).

It states that Acetaminophen which is in Theraflu: there is no apparent link to birth defects, but there is a possible association with fetal renal failure.

Also, Chlorpheniramine maleate ( in Theraflu) which is in the family with brompheniramine maleate: Has a possible link to birth defects, especially used in the last 2 weeks of pregnancy increases the risk of neonatal eye problems known as retrolental fibroplasia.
I hope this helps. If you have any other questions about medications check out : www.medicinenet.com

The first and second trimester are of critical concern for birth defects. The only 'safe' thing to take is Tylenol (not in a cold medicine) it can be overwhelming but call your doctor if you are feeling like you just can't bear it. They haven't tested these medicines on pregnant women to know for sure (because it would be unethical to do so )Chances are if you have already taken the medicine you and babe will be OK. I don't think miss carriage is a concern, just potential defects. Hang in there!
(I took sudafed while I was pregnant 2x in the fifth month, the above opinions are based on what my doc told me when I asked her advice)

It is not okay. Theraflu contains ingredients similar to sudafed and cough syrups and can be dangerous to the baby.

Ask your doctor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jeez People! What does the theraflu package tell you? Does it tell you to check with your doctor if your pregnant before taking the product? Then check with the doctor.

Never take anything this early in your pegnancy, the baby's placenta is not mature enough to filter out the bad things, not like when he's 14w + gestation.... talk to the pharmacyst if you can't get into see your doctor right away, or call your doctor's office and have the receptionist ask. Personally I wouldn't suggest it though, could you forgive yourself if you miscarry tomorrow? Even if it was completely unrelated you'd always wonder, was it that Tharaflu I took???

Ask a doctor or pharmacist!!!
Many over-the-counter meds can affect a growing embryo. Don't take anything before asking a professional!

Always ask you doctor - I wouldn't dare take medication without asking my doctor first.

If you have pain like a sore throat your doctor would have recommended which pain killers are appropriate for pregnant women.

I was told not to take that stuff and medicine like that during the entire pregnancy. Ask you OBGYN what they recommend to make your symptoms more tolerable.

Taking any medication without consulting your doctor while pregnant can harm your baby. Didn't you read the label?
