It seems like people either strongly like cats, or HATE them. Why? I may be imagining this (probably!) but it seems you cannot say anything negative about dogs but people feel free to "diss" cats. Cat lovers (and haters) speak out -- why?

I love cats- I am not , however , crazy about dogs. Cats don't slobber or jump on you- they are quiet and can be very sweet. They are pretty much self maintaining and keep themselves clean.
I cannot think of anything I don't like about cats!

We always had both, but i was a cat lover. Their positions are so interesting to watch. Like their bones are fluid. I had one cat that would stroll across the front room floor and suddenly just fall sideways. He was snoozing before he hit the carpet. And they communicate better than dogs. But on the other side, i do not remember too many stories of cats saving their masters lives, perhaps because they do not recognize a MASTER

Because they eat my pet squirrels and birds, I have a fenced in yard but that don't keep cats out, and it's other peoples cats, they could at least make the cats wear a bell on their collar to warn the smaller animals! They also cause lots of diseases and climb on and scratch your car, I can't think of one thing they are good for!

I love cats because you don't have to care for them. You give them kitty litter and fill their bowl once or twice a day that's it. They aren't hyper active or crazy. They're really relaxing. After a long hectic day, I don't want to come home to a dog that is barking outside, running around, and I don't want to take him for a walk. With a cat you come home do your work if it wants to come by you it does and you can relax, pet it, and listen to it purr. I like that.

Cats are smart and independent. They come sit by you if they chose to. You can't force them or intimidate them into being submissive. That's what makes them wonderful to people who appreciate that trait.

I'm violently allergic to cat fur so I have a good reason to hate them. They try to stop me breathing.

I like all animals. Cats are great. (I have two.) They are affectionate, loyal, and give/receive love unconditionally. They make terrific pets, and are easy to care for.
