For the major (and some minor) political parties you can join on their national websites or print off a form to post and they will normally send you details of meetings of your local party, or events.

Alternatively, if your local councillor/MP/prospective candidate is a member of the party you want to join then contact them and I'm sure they'd be able to help you out with details of what's going on near you.

It would require a pretty firm commitment on your part that you uphold the values of the party that you choose, and occasionally defend them when they take flak. If the party gets a leadership that steers the party in a direction that you don't feel supports what your idea of the party should be (Labour seems to spring to mind) then you should endeavour to change that to the best of your ability.

Personally I don't feel ready to take that commitment, and I don't see a party out there who does consistently represent my views.

Good luck if you do join a party!

Your state website should have links to local parties. You can also go to your party's website and seach for state or local websites. This website has a lot of information about politics in general and is non-partisan.

I also use it to see how my representatives voted...

There's lots you can do locally-I believe both parties have been taken over by the elite-we need to take them back where that is happening.

I believe that you can join a political party through the internet, and then they will contact you to advise you of the local group. Other wise look them up in your telephone directory and then give the party a call, they will then tell you where, and when they meet, and how to join.
