It was definitely a confidence booster for Roddick .....whether it be an invitational tournament ot not , a win is a win , and that too over someone who has a winning 12-1 record over you .Roddick himself said that he needs to do it more at a bigger stage and as far as I can see , Jimmy Connors is not going to be very pleased by that comment.

I don't think so, since the tourney that Roddick won was only an exhibition and Federer was still getting warmed up. In the cases of Grand Slams and Masters Series events, it's a different story. You gain ranking points, the tourneys are bigger, and I think by then Fed would've been playing his best tennis.

Federer has shown the ability not to be thrown by these losses - if anything, it's likely to do him good to enter the Open with a bit of a wake-up call. It may well help Roddick if he plays Federer again, but then Federer tends to pick up his game against players to whom he loses when he meets them again, so that it's likely to be a wash.

I don't think so. Federer was just having a 'lil starting trouble.
I don't know if you remember but at the same time and the same event last year he lost to Tommy Haas...but then what happened?
Didn't he kick a'ss in the Aussie Open.
The same's gonna happen this year. I don't see anyone but Federer holding up the trophy and crying.
'sides, Fed always saves his best for the Slams. I personally think that he doesn't give a sh!t about these ATP or invitational tourneys.

Federer is always beter than Roddick..
Roger lost the match as he did not played well, and he did not had practise and he did not played any events previously, it may be some starting trouble..
He will become better after this match..
anyway congrats to Andy for winning the match....

that's what i exchange into questioning approximately... My resounding is that, Ferderer lose against Gonzales yet Roddick wins against Gonzales, does that advise that Roddick is greater useful than Federer extremely that, after beating Federer, Gonzales could be slightly greater useful before the Roddick-Gonzales adventure? relatively definite; Federer is slightly "down" those circumstances. Andy has his possibility of triumphing yet i think of that Federer will win, the final confrontations coach it, 14 wins of Federer

I think that a display tournament and a grand slam are two very different events, and they both receive very different approaches from federer, and unfortunately for roddick, if he will face federer in any grand slam he will probably be demolished...

I'm glad he did, because I'm a big Roddick fan and I quite dislike Federer, but, sadly, I don't think that it will happen again in any major events.

well,i gotta tell u that this is just a tactic from federer.federer just wanna let roddick think that he can 'win' federer with his lousy play.=p so when they meet each other in australian open, federer will demolish roddick in style.=p lol~just kidding...well,federer is actually using serve-and-volley to play with roddick.although he lost,he had actually done a good job with it.but when the big time comes,i think that federer will actually prevail in a four-set match.=D
