Sketches by Boz were originally a series of short stories, or sketches, by Charles Dickens, the first of which appeared in a magazine in 1834. Some of them were collected together and published as a book in February 1836, called Sketches by Boz series one. More were collected and published as a book in series two in December 1836. The whole lot came out as one book in 1839.

I've managed to find the following editions:
The one most similar to the one you descibed, i.e. without a date, is recorded as circa 1900.
However the other two listed by the same publisher are:
Publisher: Walter Scott Publishing Description: HC, 1902 (assumed from notation on last page "7-02", 386 pgs plus adverts, 5.5"x7.5". B&W illustration as frontispiece, and section headings sporting decorative designs. Nicely appointed deep green cloth covered boards. ( Check your copy to see if the same adverts are included. It would also have the same green cloth covers etc.)
or
Publisher: Walter Scott, London, Date Published: 1887, Description: Hinges starting, ow Good Red Victorian hardcover, black/gilt deco, mylar cover, 5 1/4"x7 3/8", 386 pages, Collection of periodical articles previously published.

The second one does not identify if the edition included the date but it's still worth checking the product description for any similarity.

Hope it's of some use and helped you at least 'narrow down' the year!
