It's hard to be patient isn't it, I'm 36w myself and already getting ancy hehe. Take a hot bath, not too hot though, the heat will help soften your cervix and relax your body. Make yourself a red raspberry tea to sip on while you're in there and do some nipple stimulation. Nipple stimulation releases oxytocin, the natural contraction hormone. Then when your bath is over, have sex with your partner, get on your hands and knees so the baby rocks into the right position and make sure he goes inside you, semen is a natrual prostiglandin (will soften your cervix even more) Oh lastly, make sure you have an orgasm... again more oxytocin. If that doesnt' do it..... then i'm sorry you're body just isn't ready to go into labour.

You actually can't induce labor on your own if you body isn't ready. Most doctors won't medically induce just for impatience until after 40 weeks because if you then had a low birth weight baby it opens them up for a lawsuit.
I do know how you feel...I ended up PAST my due date all 3 times (12 days over, 8 days over, and 4 days over). Those days just drag by but I promise you that when the baby is here it won't seem like you waited so long and you will actually MISS being pregnant.
Keep walking - it does help baby to descend and may cause labor but it also helps you build up your stamina for labor and you will likely have an easier labor and shorter pushing stage if you are in good shape.
Some women swear by castor oil to induce...but DON'T DO IT. It will give you a terribly stomach ache and lots of time on the toilet and can even cause the baby to pass the meconium in the uterus which means you won't get to hold your baby right at birth.
I do have a cousin tha swears that scrubbing the floor on your hands and knees works...it did twice for her... but it is also a known fact that right before labor you did get a burst of energy and desire to get everything perfect for the baby...so it may just have happened to coincide.
So really I say it doesn't hurt to try the normal stuff like walking, sex, cleaning, etc...but don't try any of the weird wives tales...you may end up with a medical emergency.

Seriously, I hate to echo what so many have said before, but patience is a must. It sucks to be late, but then having an induction when the baby isn't ready and possibly going under the knife if it fails is no picnic, either. BG MOm had some good advice. If the baby isn't ready, it isn't ready.

i used raspberry leaf tea. started drinking on sunday night, had contractions on mon morning. i stopped drinking cause i got nervous, but they went away. started drinking again on tues. morn and all day, went into labor wed at 8am, delivered 8 pm. or go get a foot massage, pedicure. the chinese people know a certain pressure point that will activate the uterus and cervix. good luck but i would wait another week. the babies lungs need these last two weeks to finish developing.

Nipple stimulation: Twisting or pinching your nipples releases your own natural oxytocin. A few studies have found it to be effective in getting labor going within 72 hours if your cervix is already ripe, ...... my dr had me pinch my nipples when i was 3 days late

Ask your doctor to strip your membranes. Also nipple stimulation can help, but be very careful using this technique because it can cause very intense contractions.

sorry you don't want to hear this but seriously you have to be patient. What happens if your baby decides to wait another 2 weeks before coming into this world?? but, if worse comes to worse call your doctor to be induced. that's what most mothers are doing anyways.

You people really scar me! You should be calling or seeing your doctors...not asking questions about your pregnancy (or babies) on this site! This is much to much of a serious nature, the 'life' you are carrying depends on it (and you)...see your doctor! :)
