The biggest problem with Ref/freezers is "dirty coils". The efficiency of the machine goes down ever so slowly over time that no one notices until it doesn't freeze anymore. Just unplug your unit and empty it. Then; roll it out and vacuum all the lint and dust off of the coils then clean them with a damp rag. If your coils are on bottom you will have to tip it over to clean it properly. I'm glad you ask that question because it's about time that I cleaned the coils on mine. Should be done about once every 18 months to maintain the efficiency of the unit. After cleaning you will notice that it will run shorter times.
P.S. I just snapped off the little grill below the door on my refrig and the coil is covered with cat hair and lint. I'm surprised that it is working at all!!!Thanks.

It's a bit of work worth the effort.

The best answer for this question is to look up your specific model on the manufacturers website. They're different, depending on how energy efficient they are.

i would look at your dial setting first. maybe they were changed accidentally. if its an old frig, then i would start to save my pennies and replace it as in the long run it will save you money!!!
