The other day I was playing the sims 2 on my computer.
I typed in a cheat as I usually do, but now I'm thinking I must have hit something wrong on the keyboard because every since then, my computer has had no sound on it what so ever.

I dont use plug in speakers, I just use whats built in to the screen, so its not that, but no sound will play at all.
The jingle that plays when you switch windows on, my mp3s wont play any sound, nothing.

I dont know what I've done or how to fix it. Can anyone help?

Is there anything I can do? I've done a quick search on google and I've checked that the comptuer is not on mute, I've gone into the control panel > sounds and audio devices, and checked that everything (except microphone) is fine and not muted.

Any ideas of what I can do? I'd rather not call a PC repairman out if I can try fixing it myself. Plus I'm thinking it must only be something trivial because up until I played that game, everything was working perfectly.

Hello, you didn't wrote what OS you use.
1) look at your keyboard again and see if there are any keys that mark with audio + or -. it could be that your cheat codes might have lowered your audio Vol to 0.

2) it could be that your monitor Vol is set to "0". try to change that.

3) click on the speaker icon near the clock twice. click "option" and then choose "properties". check that your sound card is the one that written.

4) if you are running Win xp, use the system restore, and bring your computer to the day before you entered the cheat codes.

First of all...restart your computer.

If that doesn't solve it, go to Start>Run.

Type in "services.msc" and press enter.

In the window that opens up, scroll down and click on the service called "Windows Audio". When its selected, look at the left side, there should be a "Start this service", or "Restart this service". Click on that and after its done, try playing a song or something.

Might check for drivers and check in control panel and make sure it is not disabled.

Why do people cheat at games? Because they can't play them well. Maybe someone is trying to tell you something.
