If you trust the gentleman driving then yes it's safe, if you yourself are driving I'd get someone else to drive you.

Well, it depends on where you live. If you live in a rural area that does not have any hospitals along the way, then I would be a little weary to do so. When you are that far along I wouldn't want to be more than an hour to an hour and a half away from a hospital. Just think about being in labor in a car for 2.5 hours or more. I would definately bring up this concern to your doctor and I would also check out all the hospitals along the way so in case of an emergency you will be able to find it quickly. Good luck :)

It is not a question of safe, the question should be worded is it wise. Traveling doesn't put your baby or your labor in any additional risk or danger, and in a normal birth there is very little you need and most of it will be available to you where ever you are.
The reason women have been told not to travel is for health care reasons. You need to consider *Will your insurance cover charges for an out of area birth? * Do you have medical conditions that require a through knowledge of your medical history to care for? *Are you comfortable with the possibility of giving birth with a doctor or midwife you've never met before?
That being said, the average length of labor is over 12 hours for first time moms, and most of that time is spent in early labor (http://www.birthingnaturally.net/birth/elabor.html and http://www.birthingnaturally.net/birth/progress/earlylabor.html) If you start to feel signs of impending labor you have plenty of time to make it back to your home and your chosen birth place. The question of whether you want to make such a trip is one only you can answer.
If you decide to take the trip, be sure to stop at least once an hour to walk around for a few minutes and pee (because you need to stay hydrated even while traveling and your bladder is really compressed right now). Good Luck

If you are experiencing a complicated pregnancy then you should check with your Obgyn first.
However, the time you are travelling is not that long and shouldn't be a problem.
Make sure you have pit stops along the way to use the bathroom and also map out hospitals along your route to make sure you know where to go in case you do happen to go into labor.

Yes it's safe, although if you are contracting or showing any signs of impending labor, I'd be sure it wasn't 2.5 hours in the middle of nowhere - just in case. Good luck!

secure - convinced. mushy - no. I did a 2 hour vehicle vacation those days and that i grow to be sooooo uncomfortable with leg cramps, monetary employer discomfort, and so on. My best difficulty stands out as the prospect of going into labour 3 hours faraway from abode. i does no longer sense free having to provide in a health facility 3 hours faraway from my abode with out my own obstetrician and with out my pals and relatives being round. i'd nevertheless take the prospect notwithstanding because i does no longer favor to bypass over seeing my daughter in a wedding ceremony.

Check with your doctor. Also, do you want to be that far from your doctor and the hospital at this stage of your pregnancy? You could go into labor at any time and if you are that far away, may have to have a doctor you have never met deliver your baby.

Plan to stop for potty breaks... I believe that it is, but take a route that will allow you to be near a hospital if your water breaks. Don't be surprised if you don't give birth where you thought you were going to. Maybe take a copy of your paperwork from the hospital you pre-registered with to help you or your husband when/if you need to use another hospital. You are full term you know...

I wouldn't travel this far if you or your baby is high-risk. Otherwise-this is probably safe but you might end up delivering your baby at another hospital depending on if you go into labor while on your trip.

Safe, but probably not very comfortable. You may need to plan in a few convenience breaks.
