Your husband has to want to stop. If he doesn't, everything you try is irrelevant and a waste of time. If he isn't aware of the dangers smoking puts on his own health, then chances are slim he'll quit.
If he does want to quit, then all you can do is continue trying different methods until you've found what works. But the reality is, his own discipline and will-power will be the deciding factor.

In order for your help to be taken seriously as help and not nagging, your husband has to be a man, and step up to the plate in taking the steps for himself to try and break the habbit. If he doesn't have the want and the will-power to quit, he won't take any of your help seriously.

You can get off his back about it , flat out tell him that if he chooses to smoke himself to death , then thats his choice. But that you love him and want him to quit so he wont up and die on you before his time. You cant "make" him do anything. He will do or not do as he wishes.

explain to him that you will not be able to stick around and watch him kill himself ..... that you can't bear it and that you married him so you could grow old with him....and not someone else.
we had the same problem until I told him that.( the crazy thing is that I ended up with the heart problem - and I didn't smoke) anyways, for both of our sakes - he did stop. Keep on it and be supportive....praise him everyday....and he will stop.

Tell him straight up how you feel! Also tell him you don't like it and if he must continue to smoke then not to do it around you.
