If you run it for short periods of time like at night the furniture and floors should be okay. You do run the risk of warping your wood when you introduce moisture of any kind.

As long as you keep the humidity low, it should not damage anything. Only if you have it running full blast for extended periods of time would it cause damage, but if you keep the humidity at a comfortable level it shouldn't cause any harm.

Moisture to a certain level is good for the wood,especially this time of year when the heat is on and the air gets dry

Yes unless you use distilled water ONLY and a small rug under it will protect wet flooring for safety reasons.
