I would not have a problem helping another person financially with some groceries or rides to appointments. I would also introduce that person to organizations that are available in the community to help with food stuffs. As for the education I would tell the person where to look for assistance as there are always lots of grants etc. available if a person will take the time to investigate them. And then they could also get some government grants also which they would be responsible for repaying these after they graduated. As for the health well I live in Canada and we have universal health care so nobody is refused care. If the person needed medications I might help them with purchasing until they became eligible for assistance in getting these meds. The most important thing is for the person to become self sufficient so I would try and turn them on to the proper people that could help them and then they would be responsible for doing the footwork as far as actually seeking out these resources. A person can become a little lazy and/or expect others to do everything for them. So it is important that we not allow this to happen but instead give them the tools with in order to help themselves.

well you said friend.. there are too many times people use that word easily.. friends are someone you have your whole life.. and yes i would.. i love and cherish the few friends i have like i do family.. others are just aquantences.. (spelling) and those are decisions you must think of.. this is what i will tell you .. if you decide to help.. you have to look in your heart and not expect to get anything back it must be a present or an arrangement.. because money between friends is hard.. and i have had bad experiences with it before.. so if you do give money etc make sure you can live without it.. and not cut yourself short.. also there are tons of other help she/he can get with education out there.. rides.. yes help them out.. you are a good friend.. and remember what i said... it is a good gesture on your behalf.. dont hold it against them if they cant pay you back immediately.. if at all.. ok!

I helped a friend out with her deposit after she had to get a new apartment having broking up with her boyfriend but wouldn't be prepared to put in the hours of hard work just to help make a friend's standard of life easily or better - it could become very contentious when you see that they are not spending the money in the way you intended for them to spend it.

Can you trust your friend. I have loaned a huge some to a friend when he needed cash flow for his business. I have not seen a return yet. It is a risk that you must be willing to take.
