Hey Dude,

It is a bit early to put together a monster VISTA system. Look what happened with Windows XP sp2. Everyone who put a 'monster' system together from the start only had an average system after sp2.

256MB is a MINIMUM for the video card. I have been running the beta for a while and still find that my $300 brand new 256MB video card can not smoothly do all the things that Vista offers.

NEVER do shared video for a Monster system.

Sub $150. card, not likely if you want it to work well. There are plenty out there but you ALWAYS get what you pay for.

well the X1900GT was dropped to less than $160 at newegg.com and it is 10% slower than a 7900GT - its a great card -
however, if i were you, i would wait for the rest of the G80s or the new R600s because there probably will be 8600GTs or X2600 Pros that will be direct X 10 and Vista capable -

bottom line - wait
cheers

p.s. you might wanna upgrade the processor - get a dual core amd x2 or core 2 duo (pentium Ds suck horribly) - the $130 amd athlon x2 3800 will beat any penitum D or 4 - even the extreme edition

8400gs is the in effortless words less costly dx10 card, yet that ought to not also be okay to run your screensaver! Do your self a favour and p.c.. up an nvidia 8600gt or ati 2600xt! Rob a economic agency in case you should!

If your editing you should opt for Dual nVidia cards in SLI
With 256 each to give you 512 mb V ram total.
