It is on top of his head and on his fins. How much time do I have to help him or is he on his way out? I found him hanging out at the bottom of the tank and I just separated him from his tank and added that blue ick medicine. What should I buy from the pet store? Thank you so much in advance for your answers!

The pet store guy assured me that the Quick Cure should take care of the fluff. He looks happier in the small container for the time being. How long do you suppose I should keep him in there before returning him to the tank? Also, he does have a heater in his tank so the water temp is not the problem. Many thanks!

Honestly the fish store guys know about as much as the average answers poster. It doesn't sound like ick.
ich/ick- Looks like small white dots, ot salt grains.
Fungus- White/grey fuz generally any where on the body. Often starts as fin rot.
Columnaris- White/grey fuz generally on the mouth and gills. Generally the fish stops eating. Bacterial not fungal.
So from the above I'd guess a fungus, or columnaris infection rather than ich. Honestly I personally really wouldn't care about which. Fungal infections often lead to bacterial infections, and vise versa. What you want is something that targets both bacteria, and fungus.
Examples:
Jungle Labs Fungus Eliminator (Not Cure)
Primafix + Melafix (a little weak for an advance infection)
Jungle Lifeguard
Maracyn Plus

Its a fungus or mold. Labyrinth fish are prone to both ESPECIALLY bettas since most people don't give them a heater which they require to be happy, not merely survive. It is not caused by dirty water, don't let anyone tell you that. Raise the temp, turn up the aeration and treat with a fungicide, any will do nicely.
Ich looks like grains of salt that you could pick off, its a parasite. Most common fungus looks like a piece of a cotton ball. Water mold looks like the fish was covered in toilet paper and not its disintegrating in the water. As you've described it, it is NOT ich.
Good luck.

If it is ick, it should be small white spots showing on the body. This sounds more like a fungus. There are things at the aquarium shops to treat this. I would change the water with untreated water from the other tank and add some of the medication for fungus. Also, watch the other fish for infections. If it is ick, it is contagious, where as fungus is not.

That's not ick. The best and cheapest cure for most fish problems is salt water. For about 2 days transfer the fish into a seperate container with about 1 level tablespoon of sea salt per 2 cups of water.

Your fish does NOT have ich. Treating him for a disease he does not have is causing him much unecessary stress.
Please perform a 100% water change as soon as possible to get him out of that water.
"White fuzzy film" is a classic case of fungus. Fungal infections are most often caused by poor water conditions (as most diseases are) that allow the fungi to grow.
Aquarium salt (no iodized salt table salt, please!) is an excellent preventative, as it makes the water inhospitable to fungi and other nasty things. On default, I always treat all of my betta tanks with aquarium salt (1/2 teaspoon per gallon). However, once the infection is already present, aquarium salt is by no means a medication, and alone is very unlikely to cure the problem.
Your best bet is purchasing a fungi medication from your local fish store. Jungle Fungus Clear is standard.

Ick is white spots on the body and fins. This sounds like a fungal infection. U need to medicate him with proper meds and the ick med isn't gonna do anything. Ick is a bacteria. There are lots of different fungal medications out there. Good luck!

Aquarium salt is usually a cheap quick trick to it..
Here's a really good site dedicated 110% to Betta's, you can click on the side tabs about diseases, etc..

You were right in getting the ick medicine....you should see an improvement in a couple days. There is a chance your other fish might get it even though you've separated him from the others but its a very common problem.

im a firm believer in tetracycline. It works good with fungus. Clean the tank and but a dose of that in. it'll turn the water yellow, but its worth it if you want to cure your fish. After about a week, change the water again, and treat it again with the quick cure

It is probably some kind of fungus. Go to your local petstore and look through the fish meds and you should find somthing to treat it.
