The Champions League is a month away now. That's what we should be watching, not another tabloid magazine back story with a game called "football" in the advertisements.

I am excited about the Champion's League as well...go Man U. Beckham (and possibly Davids) is important for MLS and its popularity in the US and around the world...they need to sign big-name European players to bring attention to the league and hopefully approve the level of play. Beckham was the obvious choice because he has said he would like to some day play in the US, and he already had connections to LA.

I had never heard of him before the contract story. I doubt that I will have any interest in his activities. Soccer is not one of my favorite sports though I do think it is good exercise. On television it is good cure for insomnia. Frankly, I am surprised that the US professional soccer league generates that kind of money to pay this high salary.

It's safe to assume that you are talking to those outside of the US.
Because other than the handful of soccer fans and young female admirers, nobody else in the US really cares.
I asked 13 random people today who he was and no one had a clue.

Because the U.S. soccer situation is pretty crappy. Now we have someone who can maybe help it look alot better.
