Nothing is seriously wrong. It's just because of the wrong generalization of a number of irrational people that spread to others.
Yes, It's a fact that many of the players are black and some has a ghetto/gang/thug group history, but it doesnt purely fall on that reason. The brawls are mainly because of uncontrolled animal instinct, emotion and pride.
The NBA/NFL is all about the talents, the players and the passion for the sport. lets just all forget the unwanted incident, learn from it so it wont happen again and move on.

Look at their tattoos. They covered head to toe in them. And first off being black doesnt necessary mean being "thug". Black people arent the only people that can be "thugs" but since majority of NBA players are black then its about the black players. The way they act, how they lose all their millions after retirement. Also hockey players dont tattoo their whole body like NBA players do. As for black athletes ******* the hottest white woman remark im sorry but you dont know crap from **** lmao

K_G hit it on the head. It's a sport which is dominated by black men.
Hockey at all levels has much worse fights all the time, but that is considered part of the "game." When baseball has brawls, they don't get nearly the media attention that basketball does. NFL football is more of a contact sport than NBA basketball, so the media expects that sort of thing. It's a double standard. Also, during part of the 1970s and the early 1980s, the NBA was looked as a drug league, with heavy usage. The media is dominated by a bunch of wimps and p*ssies, and they will report it whatever manner they see fit. Yes things get out of hand, but
there are fights that go on in everyday life that are much worse
than what goes on in the NBA. I guess they expect pro athletes to
act like role models. Guess what? Pro athletes are human just
like the general population, and they're no better or worse when
it comes to behavior. No one expect the general population to be
role models, so why should pro athletes have to live by a higher
standard of conduct than everybody else.

they are no thugs. put any nba player in a russian prison. After this idiot get sodomized and beaten by slavic criminals we will see who the true thugs are. lol, this will be beautiful to watch with "thug" rap music in the background for a little irony.
Here is what will happen to any NBA "thug" in a Russian prison
1. He goes into prison, thinking hey I am from the innercity projects...I am an adamant fan of DMX rap music......none of these lily white slavs can best me....
2. He suddenly realizes that he, the thuggish nba player, is not a thug in the company of these badasses we call the slavic brotherhood . Yet for some reason, like all nba players, remains arrogant. Pissed and angry at this lack of respect and arrogance towards the "slavic brotherhood", several true "thugs" approach the famous gangsta nba star. Constant beatings and sodomy ensues for several days.
3. He then realizes who the true "thugs" are.
Why people call them thugs is the same reason losers like Hasim Rahman are called a thugs.........hype

Because of the media hype of the incidents that happens. Classic if one basketball player is an thug therefore they must all be thugs...

I think there are 2 sides to this. One is that america is a racist place to live and any strong black man causes fear in white america. the point about fights in baseball is right on...when they have a brawl, it's not even news...when black athletes have a fight, it's national news. double standard and institutionalized racism to be sure.
however...when you have players like zach randoph who says things like 'i'm not a blazer, i'm a gangster' and gets pulled over with guns in his car and has a woman suing him for rape, when four pacers go to a strip club and end up firing shots (shoot, man...i've been to plenty of strip clubs, but never felt like i should bring a gun), when sebastian telfair brings a loaded gun onto a plane, when dale davis starts a fight with the cops, when cliff robinson gets suspended in the playoffs for smoking weed, when qyntell woods gets arrested for fighting pit bulls, when a former player shoots and kills someone in his home (jayson williams), when a player like ruben patterson has THREE charges against him (assult, attempted rape, assult of spouse), etc etc...it totally plays into the sterotype and it makes it really hard to argue that the players aren't thugs. So, that is WHY they are called thugs...whether or not it is true is another story.
that said, the media makes these the stories. They don't tell you about brian grant and all the $ he has given away to help kids, they don't tell you about dalembert and his obbession with computers (building computers, fixing them, etc), they don't tell you about bol giving away so much of his money to help sengal (his home coutry), they don't tell you about all those things they do that are helpful and kind and really cool. It's not news according to the white run media. It doesn't serve their interests to report these things...it serves their interests to tell you about all the thug life things players are doing.

To me its because those people are intimidated by a tall muscular person which people stereotypically see as a bully or thugs while football players jobs are to knock people around.
