My daughter is going 8 years old, in Primary 2 now. I am thinking of signing her up for ballet lessons, because she seemed to have a thing for dancing, but I read that most parents start taking their kids to ballet classes at 3 years old. Is it too late for her?

No, it's not too late for your daughter to start taking ballet. I have seen people start ballet at ages older than her's and they were fine, they caught on quick and loved it. Our studio even has ballet classes for adults and some of them have never had ballet before. You're never too old to start ballet lessons.

No, that's not too old. I started ballet when I was older than that. I already knew how to tap and dance well, so I think that probably helped (knowing how to take instruction). It is not too late. Ballet (or any kind of dance) is a great thing to learn.

Not at all! she can go ahead and be put in ballet classes. I help teach 3-8 year old girls in ballet and they do just fine specially if she is 8 they are still working on the beginning of Ballet. so she would do just fine and learn quickly.

ballet is sometimes better to start at an older age then three. I remember having a hard time consentrating in dance class when i started. (i was four) I have many friends who started when they were ten. It does put you behind a little, but if your daughter really likes it, she'll catch up. Good luck!
happy dancing!

No, it's never to late. Actually to tell you the truth it's actually the perfect age, not to early or late. And if you want to become a professional dancer than you must start between ages 7-10 so if she starts now and want's to maybe later take that as a career. Then it's a pretty idea and it'll give her a good posture and shape.

No, I have been doing ballet since I was 4, throughout the years, I have had people in my class who were older than me and never even had any experiance in it.. eventually they caught on. I say go for it! maybe she wont be the best in the class, but she will still have fun!

NEVER TOO LATE!

If there is a natural ability, it will come easy and she will catch up fast.

I didn't start ballet until middle school. Now I am a professional dancer.

You are never to old. And definitely not at 8! Just like my dance teacher said, "If you have the heart of a dancer, it's never too late to begin. Never let anyone define what you can or cannot do. Set your own limits."

It is definatly the right time to put her in ballet classes. I was put into tap dancing class later than other people but I soon caught on and got even better than other people there!!!
