you turn a vulgar fraction (3/8) into a decimal fraction by dividing the denominator(bottom line) into the numerator (top line)

8 into 3 won't go , so write 0 point

now go 8 into 30 goes 3 remainder6

Write the 3 after the 0 point giving 0.3

and go 8 into 60 goes 7 remainder 4

Write the 7 after the 0.3 giving 0.37

and go 8 into 40 goes 5, with no remainder

3/8 = 0.375
