A tendon is very unlikely to break, you need to get medical attention if you are in serious pain;

Go to the ER, or if you can't do that, stay off the foot until you can. Tendons can and will break, and when they do, they'll need surgery to be fixed. I would reschedule your hiking unless you want to end your day in a hospital gurney.
The Motrins will take away the pain (somewhat) but won't do much for the actual tendon itself. Go to the doctor. Good luck :)

You probably strained/sprained something--if a tendon broke you would MOST LIKELY NOT BE ABLE TO WALK ON THAT FOOT AT ALL..usually when there are injuries to tendons and you do use that body part they snap in half...

Well after 4 surgeries from a 2001 car hit, and two torn ligaments in the back of my knee, that had to be replaced with tendants, then I would imagine my answer to you would be a "YES!!" Go to the doctor, as soon as possible!!! It sounds to me like its making you miserable, so just go to the doctor, and get them to care for you, so you wont have to endure anymore pain, period, you know!!! Good-Luck, to you!!! Hope you get to feeling better after you see the doctor!!!

do not go to the mall or hiking!
instead you need to seek medical attention because something is either inflamed, pulled, etc..(could even be tendinitis-it can hurt really bad as well).. that is why you are experiencing the sweats and pain....get it looked @ ASAP

Have the family drop you off at the doctor's, and pick you up later. You probably need a "soft-tissue" doc. Ask your regular doc for a referral. Good luck.
