The way to the top implies making friends. For me, success is not resumed to career, it also includes social skills. I see achievements as a general success, so I couldn't just focus on one purpose while ignoring all other purposes and responsibilities. If I would only concentrate on one purpose which would distract me from fulfilling my other duties, that would mean that the purpose is just not worthy or that I should rearrange my priorities.

And I would rather remain down there, at the edge of the mountain, with everyone else than be all alone at the top of a foreign mountain that could threw me off anytime.

I'll never be at the top, and that's okay with me

I'll judge the success of my life, by what kind of people my children turn out to be

I would want them all to be independant, caring, and happy as adults

I think, if that can be accomplished, then my life meant something.

It's best to take your time and make friends on your way up. Other people can help you become successful. If you make enemies, they can bad mouth you and give you a bad reputation. Unfortunately, people DO listen to rumours.
