I was making tea on the stove but I accidentally turned the wrong burner on (I have an electric stove) and that burner had a metal pot on it and a plastic container touching the side. I smelled something burning so I went hunting for the problem when I realized my mistake. Now WHAT DO I DO?! I tried to take the pot off the burner but a mini fire almost started!! Then I tried adding water in to the pot from the teapot but it started sizzling so I freaked out and stoped. Now it is boiling a tablespoon worth of water. I can't reach my mom and I am so lost! WHAT SHOULD I DO!?

Since you've turned the stove off, let everything cool down, then try to scrape off the melted plastic with a knife. When you get as much off the burner as you can, turn the burner back on low so that it will soften the remaining plastic. Try wiping it off with a paper towel. When you are down to a thin film of plastic left on the burner, turn it up higher to burn off the film. The burner should end up like new.

P.S.: Open the windows and turn on the exhaust fan.

Hello

First shut the burner off!!!! Before it starts a fire. Then go ahead and pour some water in the pot it will steam cause the pan is hot. But don't worry just don't get a steam burn.

If still worried after shutting off burner is there a neighbor that could come and help you?

Turn off all the burners, pronto! Let it cool before doing anything more.
It is probable that the burner is damaged, and will need to be replaced.

let it cool before you do anything else...your mom would rather have a healthy child than a stove that is ok ..so take safety as the first action ...take care of yourself!!
