Considering that marijuana is the largest cash crop in this country (35 billion a year), I think it should be legalized. You could literally wipe out the national debt if this were to become legal. Pot is no more dangerous than alcohol and look how many deaths are attributed to that.
The amount of money, time, jail space, court time, etc., that is wasted on people caught smoking small amounts is outrageous. Go after the harder, more dangerous drugs like crack and heroin. All this nonsense that pot leads to the aforementioned drugs is ridiculous. I would even favor government regulation (did I say that????). The biggest drunk and cokehead is living in the White House and nothing is being done to that thing so why go after someone who smokes pot.

Technically Clinton never admitted to using it (he never inhaled, but the guilt must have kept him from requiring all White House staff from being drug tested, as per law). But seriously, it should be regulated like alcohol, get caught under the influence and you to jail. Welfare and military personnel and GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS should be tested regularly and lose all benefits if caught under the influence. It is insane to test the employees of a government for drugs, when they only follow the orders/decisions of politicians who are NEVER tested for drugs and are the ones whose words can cost lives. Especially the idiots who send mass transit and school buses out in a blizzard because they want those unused snow days for a longer spring vacation. And there is no harm in letting terminally ill cancer patients use it, that is just sucking up to the pharmaceutical companies, who will be getting more than enough money if Hillary-care makes it into law.

I think that a great majority of people have tried it and to be honest, I've never heard of anyone dying from having a joint, however, it has been proven that serious drug problems stem from people trying weaker drugs. The things is, if you smoke pot on a regular occasion, the novelty and the "kick" wears off and so people try stronger drugs to get the buzz that they need. I'm 50/50 about this because if they to legalise it, then people probably wouldn't smoke it as much (as odd as it sounds but, some people just do it because it is illegal and that itself gets them on a high) however, some people may smoke MORE and that could lead on to having more junkies, etc and it having a bad effect on the economy.

the advantages of legalizing are obtrusive. Taxes, administration, removing most of the flexibility of unlawful gangs trafficking. you could throw out the known stoner solutions that do little to function different than "i like to smoke". As somebody who had to oversee oilfield workers that have been on call for twenty-four/7 interior the previous i might say that the risky effects could no longer be close to as hassle-free to establish. My best concern is the end results of marijuana interior the place of work as quickly because it is criminal. oftentimes conversing the guy it relatively is inebriated interior the place of work is plenty greater hassle-free to % out than the guy who's smoking dope. Is the impairment point a similar? Worse? What approximately drivers who're under the effect. Are we purely including to the epidemic of mindless deaths it relatively is inebriated driving with tips from including stoned driving? interior the tip my question is does the decriminalization of marijuana deliver approximately the social popularity of it, which in turn might strengthen the use, or worse the abuse? Can the government arise with the money for to take the monetary short term income, on the fee of greater value down the line? understanding the government the respond is an obtrusive "particular". If no longer this government then one quickly. in keeping with threat the question ought to examine "whilst".

Pot does NOT belong in the same class as other illegal drugs....hell, it's WAY safer than alcohol!
It's illegality is rediculous when you consider how much they could tax it if it were legal.
Alcohol, on the other hand, can KILL. Pot never killed anybody except for street-corner shootings. Decriminalize it, and that would come to an end.

Make it like alcohol where retailers must be licensed to sell it and customers must be 21. Alcohol causes much more physical and emotional damage.

it is a misdemeanor if you get caught with less than ounce. That's like a fine and a slap on the wrist.
