I mostly use mine to defrost if I'm in a hurry or I cook things like popcorn and ready made meals.

Mostly I cook frozen dinners. But I also defrost meat, warm coffee and warm the dogs' meals.

Most often I boil water for hot chocolate or instant coffee in my microwave. Or I just use the timer it has on it for something.
My husband uses it for popcorn.
We really do not need one. I'm not sure why we have it.

I heat things up on defrost. . .
this gives a more even heat-job!
