OK! My mom almost had my book published but then my comp. crashed. First you send the bok threw the mail to yourself juyst incase a publisher tells you that they arent going to sell your book but then they do and keep all the money for themself u have proof that its your book. Then go online and get adress for publishing companies and write them all well thought out note on how you would like your book to become published and wait for each of them to reply to you one by one. IM not sure if thats all you'll need but im pretty sure thats most of it. You should conider asking your english teacher for some help or look it up on on askjeeves or something....google may even help you! Good Luck and if you send me the name of your book l'll be sure to ceck it out when and if you get it published....Best Of Luck, Kristen

I am currently going through a similar process, and I've been researching for ages!

It helps to have a list of publishers that print the genre in which you are writing. Make a list of about ten to begin with, and then post the finished book to yourself through recorded post. This will stand up in court as proof of copyright.

Make sure anything you send is in publishable condition. If you aren't happy with it, neither will they be. Send a synopsis and covering letter along with the first three chapters as a sample of the piece. Most publishers will reject outright an entire manuscript. If you plan to e-mail it, make sure that the publisher accepts e-mail subscriptions.

Include an approximate word count (Michael Legat's book 'An Author's Guide to Publishing') has the correct method for this along with some very useful tips

Another thing to consider is submitting it first to a literary agent. They will take a percentage of any royalties, but publishers will take a higher interest in anything suggested by them, since it has already gone through a screening process.

Other than that, judt don't give up. You'll probably get rejected a few times, but don't let that bother you. There are true accounts of famous books that were rejected up to a hundred times, and then went on to make millions. Keep going.

look on the web for some publishing companies and mail them a copy of your book and see if they are interested
