It doesn't just work with asylum seekers!

My husband has worked since he was 18 (10 years) and was off work 2 years ago for 3 months sick. He got made redundant last October and has now been denied benefits because he hasn't paid enough taxes!!! His friend worked for 5 years and was signed off with disability and not only does he get benefits but he was able to move out of his parents home, get a lovely bungalow and all the money he needs. The worst thing is? He could work if he wanted to. There are plenty of jobs that could work round his disability but the government don't care. Makes me sick!

If you left your job because of ill health, you should be in receipt of sickness benefits. To get these you first need to sign on with your doctor. Not sure of the time scale of this, but after umpteen days, you get the benefit, which I think is in the region of about £50 per week. You also need to sign on at your local Job Centre and claim Job Seeker's Allowance. Again this is not much, around the £50 mark. If you are living in rented accommodation, private sector or local housing, you should try and get Housing Benefit. If you're having problems getting benefits, you must visit your local branch of Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) - they're in the phone book and they will help you.

Well why did you leave your job? If you are genuinely ill, you could claim sickness benefit until you are well again and then you could return to work. You have shot yourself in the foot by giving up your job because it shows that you have no intention of returning to work when you are better. If you did not like your job you should have found a new job before you resigned. If your employer was unhappy about you going on sick leave he could have sacked you and then you would have been eligible for job seeker's allowance (please take notice of the name of the benefit)
On the subject of the BNP, be very careful. if ever they come to power, you will find yourself in a society very similar to Hitler's Germany. There was no room there for any one who didn't want to work, they were sent off to a labour camp. As far as people like your neighbour were concerned, they were simply exterminated. I presume you know what that means! If that is what you want for this country then just carry on the way you are going.
God Help Us! (and I'm not religious)

Poor you!!! I don't think. Refused benifit because you are capable of work or you would have been told that due to proven ill-health you are entitled to Incapacity Benifits.
(More than Job seekers Allowance too) Stop moaning and do something about it, get back to the Benifit people and demand your rights!
An Asylum seeker isn't allowed to work and how do you really know he has no intention of doing so if and when he is?

If you left your job due to ill health you ought to be entitled to some benefit, perhaps DLA, (Disability Living Allowance) or Incapacity Benefit. I would appeal and also ask your GP to write to the benefit office to support your claim.

It,s because that's the way it now is in Great Britain --- Immigrants - Legal or Illegal - "step this way" help your self to our wealth and all our Social Services -- if you are of the Indigenous Population -- "Piss Off" you get Nothing --- New Labour -"Friend of the People" = Bollocks -- they are so very Busy filling our country with "Immigrants" -- Taxing us out of Existence and Destroying Great Britain -- Good Luck to you --- See your M P at his surgery --

Yes, it's the law of unintended consequences at work. Because, the lefty/liberals reward the wrong people, they anger everyone else, and turn them against the very people they want to protect. It is simply, a failure to understand basic human nature, particularly, the male sex.

Hey Mate, go and make an appointment with your Tory MP. I had the same problem and he took mine all the way to victory. It is well worth trying. Don't go to a Labour MP, because you will have no chance of winning a sausage from them.
