Relax Suzy, it will not hurt. I can understand how scared you are, it does sound honestly yucky, but it is not painful and it doesn't take very long. Sometimes we make things worse in our own minds, then when its over we wonder why we let it have so much power over us.
The technician performing the test is a trained professional who will do her best to put you at ease. You'll be in the same position you are during your GYN checkup and the technician will use the same lubricant your doctor does. Taking some deep breaths will help relax your muscles and you.
If you have a prescription for Valium and really feel you need it, it would be ok, but really, you will get through this; its not bad.

should be about the same as having a pelvic exam. It is a w and that has a condom on it and lubricated. Tell the person doing it your are scared, so they can go slow. It will feel like pressure, but is best if youbreathe and relax the pelvic muscles. I guess it is ok to take valium if you can handle it

I just had one of these done. It does not hurt.
It's similar to a pelvic exam. You lie on the table with your knees bent.
The probe is like a big tampon and the technician has you insert it in as far as what is comfortable for you.
During 20 minutes she moves it around at different angles to take the pictures of the inside of your uterus.
If at anytime it does feel painful, tell her and she will go easier, but she was never rough with me.
Don't take a valium. No reason to.
I bled for a couple of days afterward, but I am sensitive in there. You might not.

No it won't hurt. They slip it in and move it around inside you and you can't hardly feel it. Just relax. They warmed mine up a bit before doing it and it was real comfortable. No valium..just take a deep breath and lay back..it will be over in a minute or two.

No, it will not hurt. It is done with a wand that is inserted just like a tampon. No need to worry. It is no more uncomfortable than a pap smear (except the wand isn't cold, like a lot of the speculums dr.s use).

It will be awkward because they get a metal "dildo" looking thing
and put a condom on it and actually put a sort of lubrication gel on it and put it in. They did that to me when i was pregnant and it doesn't hurt . My best advice would be relax, breath, and don't tense up! it will make it more uncomfortable if you do. Good Luck !!

i've had one. they put this think that is long and kind of looks like a vibrator or dildo, i'm being serious and they put gel on it to make it slide in. it will be uncomfortalbe but not painful, just relax and try to think about something pleasant and breathe deeply. it will not be a long procedure. i get them all the time and they suck, but they get better results from them. you may be able to have someone in the room with you to hold your hand, just ask.

I've had it done a few times and it does'nt hurt at all, slightly uncomfortable maybe. I found it less uncomfortable than a pap test. Don't worry.

You should not worry at all about this proceedure, it is completely painless. Any nurse will tell you that the top question after it has been done is.... "is that all there is to it?"Really, you will be fine. Your not unusual worry is all in the mind. Good luck.x
