I think it's a great book and gives a real insight into the mind of a teenager. I think it transcends the age it was written in, so it is as relevant to today's teenager as it was when it was written. I read it when I was about 16 and absolutely loved it, even though I'm female and the main character of the book is male, I still thought, here's someone who knows exactly how I think. I still re-read it from time to time even though I'm now 37!

I did and I liked it....if you liked it yourself you might watch to try Ham on Rye by Charles Bukowski (and every other book he has written).
It didn't influence me as I am too old for that these days but since you're obviously writing an essay/review: It ..er ...sorry can't think of anything other than I actually enjoyed it AND I read it by choice...

Why ask if you haven't read it? Nope..didn't influence me in any way, but then again, I am not male, or a teenage american, nor was when I read it. It didn't exactly grip me, but I think if you read it side by side with Billy Liar, as they are roughly from the same time period..it could be interesting..comparing an ordinary English teen with a wealthy American one.

Yes. I found it to be another example of an older man (being Salinger) not being able to let go of his intense late teenaged years and spewing it out over hundreds of pages of barely held threads. On the other hand when I read it at fifteen and was all dank greasy long hair and Rive Gauche nihilism thought it the finest work ever written after Dei Profundis.

I have read the book and i thought that it was very good. It made me think about a few things afterwards, but I can't say that it influenced my life. I would recommend it

they have already commented on the plot. surely, the e book isn't plenty with regard to the plot (no longer plenty happens), yet with regard to the way this youthful guy describes himself, and his outlook on existence. The language reflects a era that could seeem "previous" now, yet replaced into super on the time. My suggestion is examine it a minimum of two times! the 1st time I examine it (some years in the past) it struck me as depressing and that i could no longer see what the fuss replaced into all approximately. I re-examine it final year and that i in my opinion enjoyed how that's written.

I was a little disappointed. But you should read it just because its one of those books that seemed to have influenced critics and other writers and also just to know what everybody else is talking about when they talk about it. It's not a difficult book to read.

Yeah good story-read it 15 years ago at school.
Makes you realise that somtime even the good guys don't always win in the end!
Also, people are attracted to others who have an air of mystery/danger about themselves. The character of Stradlater is an example of this.
It's a bit dated now but I would still reccomend it to anyone.

I haven't read that book yet, but many of my friends tell me that it is an amazing book. They said that it was a great read that they would get many helpful hints from. I'll ask them later if it influenced them.
