I started getting acrylic nails a few years ago. Got a fungus under the nail bed and had to go to the doctor. I caught it in time which was good. I was having surgery and took off the nails and noticed my nails seemed to be separating from the skin underneath. My nails had white splotches under them. Went to the doctor and it was a fungus. He gave me a mixture of some stuff to put under the nails twice a day. The bottle says thymol4%/alcohol 30ml. ?? It went away. He said the fungus is caused due to the acrylic separating from my nail and water gets under it. Right now I am just letting my nails grow and just polish them. But now I use something called ChipSkip from OPI that you put on your nails before you polish them. It drys out the nail bed which makes the nail polish stay on ALOT longer. It gets rid of the oils on the nail before you polish them. I won't be wearing acrylic for a while. But you do need to take them completely off and redo every so often in stead of just reapplying the acrylic. Hope this helps.

they can get a nail fungus under them if the sides lift and they get water underneath the acrylic. Try not to soak your hands for long periods. Regular dishwashing should not cause problems. I've worn acrylics for over 10 yrs (getting a new set about every 8mo-yr), and have never had a fungus. As long as your technician is skilled and uses sterile equipment, you should be fine.

yes they can get mold underneath them, which is fungus try to keep them out of water and have them removed every 3 months leave them off for a week so your nails have time to breathe, if you see any of the acrylic lifting visit the salon as soon as you can and have it replaced.

Yes they can, but if you avoid from soaking your hands in warm liquid ( be cause the temperature of the water will allow them to spread and allow more water get underneath.) Also if you get them removed after every 2 refill and wait a weeks or two this allows the nail to breathe.

#1 Go to a profesional Nail salon!!
The little bit you save isn't worth the problems. I had acrylics, for 13 years and only once did I have fungus!! I changed salons..... no more fungus. Also wear rubber gloves when you do dishes.

Take them off or go to someone who puts them on and takes them off and have her take them off. You don't want fungus on your nails. Vick's vapor rub kills fungus of the nail.

well Lysol will kill the mold, but I wouldnt advise you to put that on there, I guess just try to keep them clean and dry.
