I love the Simpsons and I can't wait for their new movie. But the trailers, though funny, tell you nothing about the plot or story line. I know that somepeople find these types of things on the internet so please help me out here!

The producers want to keep it a secret. On one of the DVD commentaries they talk about the secrecy behind "Who Shot Mr. Burns" and how there's a similar secrecy behind "The Simpsons Movie".This is what some people think the movie will be about but it's probably just a rumor:

Homer polutes the towns water supply (the animatic in which he dumps pig crap into a lake surrounded with 'no dumping' signs) and the townspeople become angry with him and the whole town must move. (the angry mob animatic).
This doesn't help to put the trailers into any context though, and the animatic with the dogs makes no sense.
Other versions say that the peolple of Springfield are forced to live in Shelbyville, others say that Homer poluted the town from an accident at the nuclear power plant ( justifying Erin Brokovich's guest role). But this makes the pig crap animatic not fit in anywhere. And in that same animatic Marge says that God spoke to them (where does that fit?).

So, I guess what i'm saying is that you should beleive what you want. There's no way of telling for sure, heck, one of the producers may have leaked this plot, themselves, as a fake (also mentioned on the "Who Shot Mr. Burns" commentary that exec. producer, Dave Mirkin, tried to leak fake conclusions, but no one cared enough about the simpsons to listen, but with the movie people are gonna want to know).
At this point is seems that people are groping blindly for conections with whatever they can. But let me return you to "Who Shot Mr. Burns". The major 'clues' they give point toward Smithers, while it was the nearly unnoticable ones that tell you it was Maggie.

Apparently the film will see Homer causing an accident at the Nuclear Power Plant, which leaks toxic chemicals into Springfield's water supply.

The spoiled water supply then results in most of the towns population moving to new areas to escape it.

Erin Brokovich (the real life version) will cameo as herself, most likely mocking the similarity between the chemical leak in the film, and the real life lawsuit she was involved with of a similar nature.
