Yes I do too, also crimes against the elderly should be more severe too. Because these are crimes against the helpless, crimes against people who can't fight back.

There is more to this than meets the eye. As far as "punishment" goes, are you talking 'rehabilitation' or 'revenge'?

I do not think we should legislate punishments for any crimes. I think a jury should look at the situation and weigh it carefully before considering the punishment. If our goal is revenge, then - fark ya - hang 'em. If our goal is to rehabilitate, then - well, we may never be able to do that, but it's best to keep them under close watch, is it not?

I think the revenge motive in the US society has grown to the point it is self destructive. It goes anywhere from the streets to the courtroom. Revenge shootings on the streets of our major urban centers (I, myself, spent 20 years in large cities in California) and death penalty enactments. (Which is just revenge sanctioned by the state).

In addition, the minute someone hears the name of the charge, they make a judgment. It's not always accurate. I remember a case two or three years ago where a man touched a little girl's arm to warn her. He didn't grab her, he didn't hurt her, he didn't threaten her. But he TOUCHED her arm. He now has to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life as her parents were offended he touched her and called the cops. He admitted in court (as did she) that he gently touched her arm. Is this a crime against a child? How tough should we be on that crime?

Haven't things got enough out of hand for you people? Shouldn't we go back to the law of COMMON SENSE?

Look at the evidence and make the decision from there. Do not vilify those who have been accused or let the media present the eevidence. If someone is truly guilty, make up your mind what you want done with them. But you damn well better make sure they're guilty first.

Not everyone who is convicted is guilty, by the way. Just check out the stats here ----> http://www.innocenceproject.org/ and realize that's only from cases with DNA evidence.

Mob justice is a frightening thing. Please do not perpetuate it. It could be your child at the wrong end some day. The end that winds up in prison for life for something they didn't do. Isn't that the ultimate crime against a child?

Yes I do This is one area that I can see harsh mandatory minimum sentencing no probation B.S. just straight forward long jail sentences with no time off for good behavior or parole. I am tired of being in a court room and seeing these sick S.O.B.ds getting off with a slap on the wrist and being told they are bad little boys.

Yes. I am in favor of locking them away for life. If they could be rehabilitated, it would be different. But they go on to hurt other children. Look up the case of Steven Stayner and Kenneth Parness, the man who kidnapped him, only served 5 years. He, (Parnell) was picked up again in 2002 for trying to buy a 4 year old boy. Steven Stayners life was ruined, he was bullied in school after his return, and he died in a tragic accident.

I agree! Every act against a child is cowardly, kids are clueless, plus it exploits the trust children must have for adults if they are to survive. Prison has a special place in the caste system for child killers/abusers.

I do, I think that when the pedophile goes to jail he gets to spend time with the general population instead of only getting to play with other pedophiles. More than likely he wouldn't make it out of prison alive. Survival of the fittest I say.

I personally think that person who commits a crime of any kind against a child younger than 18 years old should be EXECUTED!!!!!!!!!!

I think your question couldn't be more vague. Do you want some kind of mandatory sentencing? Are you SURE they aren't severe enough? Have you done some research?
