I am interested on hearing a longer explaination from the question author on why they think Children of Men is slop.

By my opinion, I think the movie was well put together. Our current world has started to become very select about people being pushed into groups of the unwanted and the wanted. Also our world is spiraling, everyone is itching for action which can damage our earth and its people. We don't know what the long term effects of what is going on in the world with chemical testing with food and warfare. I mean I look at the television and am scared for our future and Children of Men can be one of many fordcasts of the next 5, 10, 20 or 40 years.


I know that this isn't everyone's opinion but that is fine. Life is full of opinions and I am happy that everyone has something unique to say.

proper casting can make or break a movie, and children of men was definitely made. it housed amazing cinematography and an eye-opening message, to say the least. cuaron is gifted with an eye for exquisite camerawork. one scene, which lasts a good nine minutes long, is taken in an entire shot. also the element of sound plays a huge role. in the same scene mentioned above, a single sound pauses an uprising, a full-on war.
it also wasn't like other apocalypse movies; instead of a bunch of robots coming and blowing the whole world up, humanity slowly trickles to an end. if you took time to notice, the world depicted in the movie is not quite as different as the world today.
