as an engineer who regularly reads New Scientist magazine and looks at the jobs page I can tell you that engineers do not paid more - its so the other way round I am thinking of going back to university to do a Physics degree - the couple of years I would have to take out would get paid back very quickly.

Who says engineers get paid more than scientists ? It would depend on the degree of qualification each had as to their pay rate. A graduate engineer may earn as much as a scientist, but a non - graduate engineer would not.

Engineers take the scientists discoveries and turn them into useful things for you and me. "Scientists" discovered electricity, engineers put it to good use.
