Validation checks data against other data (typing in your password twice when changing it is a form of validation, to ensure you didnt type it incorrectly the first time)

Verification is checking data is valid (i.e. you don't put numbers where text should be)

Validation gives the user rights,.... verification just acknowledges the users existence.
