I think it depends on your definition of arrogance. Sometimes culture and confidence can be mistaken for arrogance. I have several British relatives and don't find them to be arrogant at all. I do find however that they are all either really reserved or really open and silly. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground with them. But hey I'm family so I'm not likely to judge them harshly and I get to see a side of them that others don't.

A Person is usually arrogant b/c of the way they have been raised and how their surrounding environment influenced them; or they are just jerks.
However, to make the claim that all British are arrogant is kind of arrogant in itself. You shouldn't stereotype people like that. Not all British people are arrogant. Also do not go by what you hear from others and their stories, you need to think for yourself.

Firstly I'm Scottish and as you may or may not know that's British. Secondly in cast you haven't noticed you get arrogant people everywhere. Thirdly that is a lovely generalisation you've made which shows you're weak and insecure about other issues in you're life. Please don't inflict them upon others. Be it British, etc. Lastly Why do you feel validated to pass judgement upon an entire culture before you even get to examine a decent cross section of them? I hope you seriously think about the points I've made.

I work with a British girl, and my first impression of her was that she was a bit arrogant, but as k I got to know her I realized that I was just misunderstanding her approach. I think it is just a difference in culture and misunderstanding *proper* for arrogance. She is actually a very sweet lady.

Well Max you never ruled America and we beat you in the revolutionary war and then saved England in World War1 and World War2. Now the UK is just a bankrupt shell of its former self not even a world power , the arrogance you have is from a time you were not even alive in so its false pride.

The British are not always very outwardly friendly but that's not the same as being arrogant.
