The menstrual cycle varies from woman to woman. It all depends on your diet, your exercise, and your stress levels. These things can affect the length, and heaviness of the flow of your "period" cycle.

The average length is 5-7 days.

If you eat poorly, you can expect the duration to be closer to 7 days, because of fats, oils, and other substances that play into the muscle contractions(cramps) that help the blood flow.

If you exercise a lot, your period could be scarce and not happen every month. Exercise affects the bodies hormones and lets out a lot of dopamine and can either completely get rid of your period for one cycle, because you won't produce an egg, or it can shorten your period to a few days(2-3).

Stress can also affect your period. If you're under a lot of stress, you may also not get your period, have a lot of cramps, or have a heavier flow.

I hope this has helped! :)

REPEAT AFTER ME! THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS NORMAL. Each woman is different. My best friend has a 3 day period once every 6 months, I have one EVERY SINGLE MONTH for 8 straight days. My other friend amber hasnt had one since her first period when she was 16, and she is 21 now. Each girl is different.
