1 way allows you to download with satellite but your computer sends requests to the internet and uploads via telephone cable, very handy for people outside broadband areas as they can get broadband download speeds. This is an affordabe consumer solution.

2 way satellite is really for business use (or rich people) as i requires you to have a satellite transmitter, you would use satellite comms for uploads and downloads. It is v expensive cmpared to 1 way satellite or broadband. I expect places like oil rigs or large ships find this v handy.

I have HughesNet satellite service myself. DW6000 2-way system. I upload and download via the satellite. It is fairly expensive to get started with Hughes. About $1,000 is what I paid about 6 years ago. About $60.00 per month for service.
