How to clean Chalky metal siding for paint?

What is the best way to clean chalky (oxidized) metal/aluminum siding so I can paint it?

power wash then flood company has a paint additive called emulsabond that you put in the paint for just such a condition

have the house power washed. or if it's a one story ranch, you could do it with a long handled brush and a bucket of soapy water. make sure you rinse it well, and let it dry for a few days before you start painting. talk to the paint store about the proper primer for painting aluminum siding so your new paint will bond well. good luck.
