It is really, really bad. My 28 year old nephew is an addict. He crushes and snorts it taken many times a day.

He is ruining everyone's life.

He has lost a wife after less than 6 months of marriage devastating her with his lies, selfishness, and such.

He has lost Many, many jobs.

He has been homeless multiple times.

He has broken into many homes stealing their possessions and identities we found out. We hope he will be caught and go to jail in the hopes it will force him off the drug.

He has stolen so many times I can't count from my dying mother, and two brothers who have been kind to him. This is how he paid them back on oxycontin. He has threatened my mom's life when she doesn't give him what he wants.

His has blackmailed his supplier after cheating her to sell items he borrowed and sold make money by threatening to turn her in to police.

He has stolen my credit card and charged over $1000 before I discovered he had it, stolen my keys, and driver's license (with ID) I am scared he will steal my identity and him and another guy were doing this we found out.

He has broken in my shed located at my mother's and stolen things and slept it several times despite all kinds of locks (once having dirrahrea all over my possessions I am told..my brother bolted it shut and I am afraid to open it and see how bad it is and what he stole..Thank goodness I moved and he doesn't know where I live. I once liked him but now can't stand him. Certainly don't trust him.

The entire family hates him...

He has broken his mother's heart, caused her many thousands of dollars, caused friction between her and her husband who threatens to divorce her if she helps him (and so she does it behind his back).

He has viciously threatened the lives of several family members.

He just spent Christmas alone and outside after being discovered hiding in the attic the day before Christmas and stealing several expensive christmas presents (vcrs and such)..somehow breaking through two sticks and a chain on the patio door (my brother paid him to show him how he got in house..locks changed several times....ruining my brother's Christmas in dealing with police and losing presents, etc Though they put a warrent out for his arrest my mom gave him a blanket and let him sleep on the back porch cause she felt sorry for him.

He thinks of no one but getting the next fix..

he has lied to multiple doctors trying to get the drug.

He has utterly and completely ruined his life and the lives of his family. He risks death from this addiction and the abuse..he risks kidney damage and his body. He risk stopping breathing and dying..mny abusers do..

No one will ever trust or believe him again as he has conned us so much. He has endangered the lives of people on the road as a truck driver.

If you want a future like his, keep doing it.

.we heard only 3 days ago, he was in detox..Christmas he called my brother-in-law's house trying to talk to his mom and grandma and my brother-in-law refused to let him speak to them despite several calls finally loudly telling him "noone wants to talk to you..this is my house if you call here again, I will call the police." This caused his mom, a not emotional women by nature, to cry for 45 minutes and everyone to feel horrible on Christmas and caused friction between brother-in-law and his daughter who felt he had no right to not let him speak to his mom and endanger their family too (the kid is obsessed with guns).

We found out he must have went to detox right around christmas..the detox place was not permitted to contact his mom (or he was not rather) for 2 weeks..

this is the last I heard..my mom and sister had a fight because my sister's husband won't let him stay he as he has threatened to kill her husband multiple times and my mom refused tro have him stay there since he was living in her attic apparently for weeks unknown and has lied and stolen from her so much...causing my poor mom more stress on top of her unbearable and constant pain.

Please get off now and do not wind up like this person.no-one has any faith he will stay clean...but it is one of the few times he actually stayed or showed up for detox despite numerous times his mom paid for it etc.

He wasn't that great before but he wasn't hated by his family essentially...he lost everything family, trust, money, multiple homes, cars, wife, and jobs.

This could be your future on oxycontin..you are 14 with your whole life ahead of you..don't ruin it..get help professional and tell your parents. You need professional help to stop and not relapse.
Please be smart enough to learn from the mistakes of others before you ruin your life and your families as well. Wake up!!!! and get help..this is a dangerous drug.

You are using a very powerful drug. Oxycontin is medical grade heroin. It is usually given to end-stage cancer patients. End-stage means there is little the doctors can do except try to relieve pain of a dying patient.
You seem fairly intelligent. If you continue taking this drug you will eventually suffer psychotic episodes. You are already experiencing some side effects. You may be doing your body damage also.
Tell your parents. Yes, they'll be shocked and outraged. There will be trust issues for years to come, but you do want YEARS TO COME and not an early death. Please tell your parents and get help. You are messing with a very nasty, vicious drug only designed to help dying people.

If you have been taking it regulraly for months, then you may NEED rehab, but at the amount you speak of, you can probably go Cold Turkey. IT WON'T BE FUN. I was using Vikes at 60-100 mg AND Oxy at about 60 mg PER DAY EVERY DAY for months......I did rehab. It MUST STOP NOW. There is no other way for people like us with addictive peronalities. These opioids will eventually KILL you if you abuse them for really long periods.

pain killer addiction is the fastest growing epidemic in the united states. is a doctor prescribing oxycontin to you? you need to get yourself into a treatment center. thats the only thing that helped me. i was using (intraveneously) 2-3 80mg oxys a day. and you are only 14 years old?!? nothing good is going to come out of this, im telling you - there are support groups like narcotics anonymous out there but you've really got to stick to the program. good luck to you, it only gets worse if you don't stop it now. it will be painful to stop taking it but i promise you the physical withdrawals will only last a few days. what you do after that is up to you. you don't need that stuff.

Even at 14, quitting cold turkey could cause you to have heart problems or even a heart attack. You will also damage your liver. And other organs. This could lead to problems having children when you get older. You need to tell the Dr. that prescribed them, that your abusing them. If you don't have a proper prescription, tell your family Dr. or a parent, or a teacher, counseler. If you don't have anyone you can tell, call the police department. Tell them you would like to talk to a police officer and ask to have one stop by your house. When they get there tell them. I promise they will help you.

Talk to your parents, a counselor, clergy, doctor or any responsible adult. Kicking a drug habit is not easy and you need help to do it. There are also Narcotics Anonymous meetings in many towns.

I work in the prison system and a majority of them started playing with drugs very young, then moved on to harder, illegal drugs. In many cases the drugs are directly responsible for their incarceration.

Get help now. Don't wait. Your parents maybe mad or upset, but that's just because they love you.

I feel so bad, young man, about your addiction. How do you pay for the drug? It's affecting your life so badly, and like they say "Nobody wants to grow up to be a junkie." Seriously, you need to check yourself into Rehab. That's the only way. Don't do this to yourself. You're a great person underneath and you know it. Please, please, check yourself in. Love yourself, you surely deserve it. Good luck! And if you feel like taking it really bad, there's a national crisis line that you can call 1-800-624-8404, or you can call 911 and they can take you someplace safe where you can't harm yourself. I care!

yea its bad for you..i've seen kids who's teeth are rotted to the core from chewing oxycontin.
Your risking an eventual overdose, severe respiratory failure and/or possible death..especially when you begin to get more tolerant to that dose and require even more and more higher dose to sustain that "best feeling ever"
i say get some help...seriously

You should never take a drug you don't know about, Oxys can kill. I have been to 2 funerals already for friends who overdosed on the stuff.
