I'm not depressed yet, still gobsmacked. I started work when I was 14 in the holidays, and I'm still poor, and now my lad just started college. We had a very quiet xmas, its a good job he's not greedy. Fingers crossed he'll have more luck in the workplace than I have.

That's the way it is. There will always be someone who makes more $$ and someone who makes less (maybe except for Bill Gates). Turn and see all people in third world (not all really, like 85%-90% of population) and you'll surely realize that the wealth you have is something entire countries won't reach in at least 300 years... not that looking down to others should make us happy, but looking up shouldn't make us feel bad either... besides there's nothing you can do about Beckham making more or less.. therefore is out your circle of influence and shouldn't worry you.. given that there is nothing you can do to change that

Hi,
I totally agree.
The best that I had was about £1000 per week. And I thought that too much, at the time. Although I didn't say so. I did not deserve it for what I was doing.
Kicking a bladder around a feild, albeit skillfully, for umpteen times that is disgusting.
I hope that he pays suitable charities a correct amount.
No wonder that you feel sad.
I do, and although they still offer me a goodly amount per hour, I am dismayed that folks like Dave are payed so much for learning to kick a bloody ball from A to B.
Daft !

depressed no,,he is a good family man and has just been lucky in many ways he has a talent which he deciced to do when he was sooooo young and stuck at it and now it has got him to where he is today so he deserves what he has got besides its not money that makes a family happy (granted it helps to a degree tho) but in saying all this who wouldn't want to be in his shoes.
i have also worked and brought home an average wage and dept is with most of the population anyway. ..
he his an inspiration to young kids which how many other superstars do the same they both do alot for charity as well.
so they get my vote all the way..

I don't feel depressed about it. I've worked since I was 15 and I'm still quite poor but I don't envy the likes of David Beckham. Yes, it would be nice to have enough money so you don't have to worry about bills etc, but does all that cash make him happy?
He's had allegation after allegation of affairs etc and his little boy has epilepsy - how does the money help there?
I'd rather be me (without sounding smug of course!). Try not to worry about it if it makes you feel sad. Just be proud of what you have achieved!

I know I think it is pathetic how much football stars and actors/actresses are paid!! As for the footballers getting paid so much blame the football fans!! they are partly to blame because they are willing to pay over odds for football shirts that change every season and they are willing to pay over the odds to attend footabll matches!! I remeber as kid I used to go see Arsenal play - it used to cost £5! Now to buy a ticket at Arsenal you have to buy a season ticket!

Depressed ? No good luck to him - coming from a working class family and making something of his life like he has done is really quite exceptional.

I agree! I'm @ skl so I dont earn anything- and Becks gets payed millions just for doing the same things I do in my P.E. Lessons.
Oh Well... the jokes on him- getting advice from Tom Cruise, and not being able to play for Madrid until his contract runs out.
What is this world coming to?

what's the point, won't change anything, think he's bothered. i think he's a tosser but he'd be a mug for not sitting there looking as smug as he does, fair play and good luck to him, though perhaps in the interests of folk like yourself he should have asked for less money! lol
