Personally yes.

The population is so big and diverse and London that noone seems to have time for anyone. It London you just put your head down and do your own thing.

I've never been in the northeast so I can't answer your question as such, all I know is when I was in London it wasn't so friendly. I can say Scotland is friendlier than the south east of England - but that doesn't really help you out. :-)

If it's the people you're asking about, then yes!

I went to Newcastle to watch Man City play in the FA cup 5th rd, and strayed into the Pineapple Pub behind the ground. At no time did I have to pay for any beer even though I left the place roaring drunk.

This pub was supposed to be one of the toughest in the area - I was treated like a friend by complete strangers.

I cannot say the same of Londinium!

When I visited London I was amazed how friendly and hospitable and patient everyone was-taxi drivers, the general public and business people-some even wished me good luck, and asked where in the north I was from-lots of women gave me friendly looks too.Though I hear N.East people are friendly too-just depends how friendly you are when you visit these places.

I think that Midwesterners are the nicest people in the U.S. The people in London are very kind, in the most part.
