I'm looking for a home in the dc metropolitan area, probably northern virginia. I've been looking at realtor.com, but I wonder if I'm missing some homes?

There are hundreds of websites that will give you a list of properties for sale. Some of the sites do not update their listing on a regular basis. The three sites that I use on a regular basis are listed below.

Try searching in Yahoo or Google for northern Virginia Real Estate and local newspapers. You may also go on a real estate offices website and they will have all the current listings on the MLS.

The MLX is the best, use to be the MLS, but you have to be a realtor to access it, or know a realtor that will hook it up. Other then that I prefer "realtor.com" .... Most of what is posted on the MLX is on this sight. I work for a developer in Orlando, and I'm constantly on that sight. Hope you like it.

Craigslist.com
any "popular newspaper" where the unit
is located usally has a website. Also MLS.
also try thier local chamber of commerce site & a local realtor to assist you, getting a local realtor takes out alot of legwork on your part and then you can feel totally secure you looked everywhere.

try going directly to sights like remax.com or coldwellbanker. Large real estate companies list all their postings on their websites.
