I have already recorded and edited my own classical solo CD. How do I get it published/sold. Is it better to contact a record company or to get my own label? ...How?
I am a beginner. Thanks

CDbaby. If your sound recording is copyrighted, you can send it to them, set your price and they will sell it for you. Their fee is $4 per CD sold. Classical music is "public domain" I believe so the only copyright issues are your personal versions of the songs. I have sold a number of CDs through them.

It is my understanding that like publishing a book, you need an agent. But in this case, you can call a recording company and send a demo copy of your album. The odds of publishing are low. This is because almost everyone who has written a book, recorded an album or create a cartoon character thinks they have what it takes but it might not be what the public would like or want. About 1 in 250 gets notice or attention. The very best of luck to you.
