My pediatrician had me wait til our son was 6 months old. Then at 9 months old you can start with the Gerber 3. Each stage the food gets less pureed and more chunkier.Best of luck!

That is an individual choice that each parent has to make. This depends on the baby and their ability to eat solids. Ideally, stage 2 is introduced once a baby is fully able to take food on a spoon. As it will take some time for this skill to be mastered.

As always you should consult your pediatrician if you have any concerns

I was told stage 2 when your child has tried all the stage 1 foods with no reactions. At the point of stage 2 they start mixing flavors and if you haven't tried one or two of the flavors then your child may have a reaction and you will not know which one of them he/she is allergic to. So I would wait until you have tried all of them with no problems. Stage 3 should not be given until your child has a chewing reflex started and can handle bits of food in his/her food. Hope this helps and good luck.

When they show you they're ready for different textures, you can change stages. Try one and see what happens. If you get a fight or gagging, wait a while and try again.

Some babies increase their textures of foods quickly, others don't. I know one year olds who gag on plain applesauce and nine month olds who are eating macaroni by themselves.
