I'm a junior in HS and still haven't taken the SAT yet. I've taken the PSAT the past 2 years and scored a 1590 (1100 on the old) and a 1730 (1150 on the old). The guidance department has told me to take it for the first time in June but I feel it's too late. Also is a prep class worth the money? A few of my teachers have said just to get a book by the "Princeton Review" and it's a lot better than the class. Any suggestions would help.

My school offered a class for free and I took it that helped, and some people took additional classes outside of school and they said it was waste of money. You can get a book and review that. Just learn your vocab and retouch up your math then you can take the test, I took my SAT in June it's not too late, as long as you take it before sending out college application then you are good.

I would recommend taking it at the end of your Junior year (in May or June whichever you prefer). When you get your score know your weakness and do more practice on those and then take another one in October or November (when you're a senior by then) before you submit your applications. If you really want to go to a prep class you can go....but I mean I'd only suggest prep if you can't get yourself sitting down and work on the SAT books. Prep class gets you motivated....I don't think they really help much. You can go check out this site. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com it's really helpful. You can read other people's opinion.

You can take it as many times as you like so I say take it once and if you score well then don't worry about it. If you score badly then def. take a class. The library usually offers a free practive test so try that first. Sonce you are a junior I say you better get on the ball and take it now. that way you have plenty of time to re-take it if you want.
