What's new:
Reversing a yearlong slide, PC maker Dell topped competitors HP and IBM in an influential customer service ranking.

Bottom line:
TBR's report, which offers a rare glimpse into the thinking of hundreds of corporate-technology buyers, is good news for Dell. But rankings could shift in the wake of the Lenovo-IBM deal.

Either will do -
You'll get differing opinions often based on past results by one bad experience.

Both have millions of satisfied customers out their, both in the consumer market and in the business market -- running them harder than you or I will ever.

It is best to go for "most bang for the buck".
Look for the features you want.
Try to get at Least:
1 GB ram
160 Mb hard drive
Compare CPU speeds - higher the better. (but this, as with above, you do not need to get extreme on these features as a less than extreme will well serve the purposes of most).

Best yet, buy a PC that is Microsoft Vista compatible and has Vista installed, or will ship to you free.
This not only gets you the latest operating system, but assures you have a higher grade of system components

In my experience, both are very reputable companies. I've owned HP's and Dells... I would find the computer that looks like it will do what you want/need it to and then find the one with the best price! :-)

Both are fine PC manufacturers.
HP has a much higher rated customer service & satisfaction.

Let us no which specific models you are considering so that we may offer a less biased opinion.
