It sounds like you’ve already made the first step, which is to recognize that you have a problem. The next thing is to determine to do something about it, and this is where many people fail to act. There is no such thing as a little evil, it’s like a little cancer, or a little radioactivity. It grows and spreads unless we take drastic steps.
Repentance is an old fashioned word, but I really can’t think of a better one. Basically, it is making a U turn in life. What have I been doing wrong? Stop doing that thing! (As you are probably already aware, it is a lot easier to change our external actions than the internal motives that make us want to be evil and do evil. Those come next, but one step at a time.)
Be accountable. Admit it when you mess up and blow it. It is easier to admit it right away than to try to weasel out of things. We always have to own up to them in the end. This is not a matter of saying that you made a mistake and you’re going to go into treatment for it, starting tomorrow, like so many politicians do. When you do wrong, make it right again. If you owe anybody something, give it back. If you don’t have the full amount, make a plan to begin repaying the full amount. Talk to those you owe, right away. This goes for respect and obedience as well as money and things.
Now, what about those internal motives? What can get inside a man and make him want to change, make him want to persevere when it gets tough? Pray. Pray like you’ve never prayed before. Mean it. Pray like your life depends on it, because it does. Ask Jesus to get inside you and make you want to stay with it. He is the only one who can really get inside a person’s heart and soul and make him new again. That way your repentance and accountability will last.
Ultimately, we will not be completely free from evil in this lifetime, but Jesus gives us a deposit as a guarantee, which means that at the end of our lives or when He returns (whichever comes first) He will bring us into His kingdom, where there will be no more evil, ever.
I’m rooting for you, and praying for you!

Don't let the dark, negative emotions of humanity get the better of him, negative emotions such as jealousy, hatred, cruelty, lust, and greed. I myself believe that greed is one of the main elements of the cause of evil. If we do not let these emotions get the better of us, then there just might be a tad less evilness in the world. If only more people would listen.
And DON'T blame it on God. I don't like it when people blame different things that happen on Earth on God, whether natural disasters like tsunamis, or things we bring upon ourselves. like the rape of a friend, or the murder of a beloved. God lets humans do what they wish on Earth, and WE choose to do whatever we do on Earth: murder, kill, steel, hurt, and so on. We bring these things upon ourselves; we are the ones who choose to make these things happen. And as for all the natural disasters: for all you religious people, welcome to science.
