I prefer Dell. If it was me, I would go to the Dell site and get as much memory as I could for $1,000. They always bump this number up, so I would maximize my purchase given my budget. A gigabyte is 1000 megabytes. For reference, 1-1/2 megabytes fit onto an old floppy disk. An Ipod nano holds about 2 to 4 gig depending on the model.

Using round numbers 1GB = 1000MB When purchasing a desktop you need to make sure that you have at minimum 1GB oh system RAM, 2 preferable, the other critical feature is your graphics card. I went to the HP site and the Pavilian d or M series which start at under 900 dollars if all you are looking to do is internet, photos, and music the minimum configuration will meet your needs so you can stay under a grand and have and do all you want.

ok gb stands for gigabyte and mb stands for megabyte. tehre is like 1000 megabytes in 1 gigabyte (might be wrong). ok an HP does sound ok for your needs. i would guess you would need a computer that has about 80GB of memory. and if its a computer with microsft 2007 (vista) then it already has the rest of the stuff u need.

GB IS GIGABYTES. MB IS MEGABYTES. YOU NEED THE RESPECTIVE CDs TO INSTALL ALL OF THAT EXTRA STUFF. IT'S POSSIBLE TO GET A GOOD COMPUTER FOR A CHEAP PRICE BUT I DON'T KNOW THE PHONE NUMBER OTHERWISE I WOULD TELL YOU. I THINK IT COST LIKE 6 OR 800 BUCKS AND YOU GET 600 BUCKS OF FREE SOFTWARE. THE MEMORY CAPACITY TELLS YOU HOW MUCH SPACE IS LEFT ON YOUR COMPUTER. WHEN YOUR COMPUTER READS "LOW MEMORY" YOU GOTTA DELET ALL THAT UNIMPORTANT STUFF OR THROW IT ON A BLANKCOMPACT DISC (CD-R OR CD-RW). THEY HAVE THESE DISCS THAT HAVE A BLACK LAYER ON THE BOTTOM THAT PREVENT IT FROM BEING SCRATCHED TOO OFTEN. IT'S PRICEY BUT WORTH YOUR CASH.

The best thing for you to do is to list all the things you want etc. on your computer and go to a good local computer store where you live, and with someone who knows about computers. They will be able to help you ask the right questions etc. and advise you about what you should buy and what not. If ever the room is not sufficient on your computer you can always buy a portable external hard disk drive to save things on it.
