This is my advice I gave earlier today to some who ran over a cat and threw it in the bushes and wanted to know what to do.

You have a moral dilemma. The quickest way out would have been to tell them when it happened. I was just an accident. No matter what you do it is going to be emotionally hurtful to both you and the neighbor. You can tell them now and explain you did not mean to run over the cat and you were upset and wanted to distance your self from it by not dealing with it. You can live with it and hope no one saw you. If no trail leads back to you and you won't be responsible for you actions, learn from it and be responsible for your actions the next time. Most next times say " I will do it the next time", so next time rarely comes. You feel bad or else you would not have written this question. You know the consequences better than anyone. Doing what you feel is right doesn't meant the neighbors won't slam the hammer down harder than it need to be.

No. I'm the kind of person that if I even breath funny, everyone comes looking for me. I can't get away with anything!

I hardly every do anything wrong but when I do, I'm caught immediately. I think its funny that those of us who are "different" get watched like a hawk but the people who conform are ignored and can get away with anything at all. If police want to find their culprits, they need to look at the conformists and not the missfits! There's where the problem is!

Yes, the majority of people that commit crimes get away with them. Law enforcement basically decides what crimes get priority, murder, burglary, rape, etc. The reason people get caught is they keep committing crimes until they make a mistake and get caught.

sure years ago...but that dont resolve the fact that i still did it...if you didnt have a concience.you wouldn't have asked the question...so what do you do? did you hurt anyone? did you steal? did you rob? did you kill? these are questions only you have the answer to...i could say to turn yourself in...but that wouldnt do you any good except put your butt in jail...learn from this and let your concience be your guide, as to what you need to do...but let this be a lesson to you...dont let it happen again...next time you do you may get caught...and belive it or not if you go to jail you will be doin time for the other crime as well as this one...

It depends on the level of seriousness you are talking about. I break the law everyday when I speed, roll through a light, there are so many laws.

I knew a guy who killed someone, but they did not catch him. He lived a normal, not exciting life, kind of poor after. They questioned him, but did not catch him.
